2024 Summer College Rowing Programs

Description

The Summer Rowing College Series is designed specifically for collegiate rowers to maintain and strengthen rowing movement patterns during summer college break. Each training block is a comprehensive four-week program designed to give the body a break from the direct rowing motion while building muscle and maintaining endurance through cross training sessions.

With your purchase, you’re receiving 1:1 coaching through 12 weight lifting sessions and 16 cross-training sessions over the course of four weeks located.

Whether you’re a seasoned rower, or you walked on to your college team, each program offers a comprehensive blend of weight lifting and cross-training tailored to keep you in top form while away from the water.

Why Weight Lifting and Cross-Training?

Rowing combines a unique combination of endurance, strength, and technique. It also requires repeating the same motion thousands of times a day for 8-9 months out of the year. Taking a step away from the exact repetitive motion to focus on how you’re doing that repetitive motion is crucial for both technical and physical development, as well as long-term injury prevention.

Weight Lifting

Some of your biggest gains in rowing might happen in the gym, and not just from physical strength. While building muscle and physical strength is a huge part of lifting for rowers, more often than not some of your biggest technical weaknesses can be targeted on land. Rowing is an intuitive sport that requires mind-body connection. Structured weight lifting routines develop strength and power while working on any muscle imbalances.

Cross-Training

Cross training modalities like biking or running can significantly impact endurance and peak cardio performance. Rowers are able to hit aerobic zones for periods of time while doing a different motion other than rowing. Again, this allows athletes to take a break from the repetitive motion but still keep endurance strong through the summer off months.
